Originally built in 1923 as the Aquila Court Building and inspired by the Bargello palace in Florence, Italy, Lund-Ross worked with Alley Poyner Macchietto Architects to employ the best elements of 'adaptive reuse' to create an elegant boutique hotel.
The building mechanical and electrical systems were completely recreated and run throughout hidden behind historic facades. A new foyer was constructed with a second-floor mezzanine balcony that overlooks the lobby. Lund-Ross restored the structure’s historical elements like the lobby’s original marble floor, Roman columns and travertine walls.
145 rooms were created including two story suites that surround the courtyard.
Lund-Ross completed the historic renovation of the Aquila Court Building in an incredible 11 months for the highly anticipated grand opening.
