“From the planning stages of the Paxton, we knew it would be an incredibly complex project due to the challenging condition of the dilapidated building. Beyond the immense undertaking of restoring the structure, Lund-Ross working closely with all of the new homeowners to ensure that their custom condos were finished to their satisfaction.”

The Paxton

Lund-Ross completed a large-scale historic renovation of The Paxton building in downtown Omaha. Once a premier hotel, the 171,000-square-foot high-rise was used by a variety of organizations over the years until it fell into disrepair and closed in 1999.

Lund-Ross first completed a core and shell renovation of the 11-story building. The brick exterior of The Paxton was cleaned, and original granite and marble Art Deco accents were restored. The Paxton received new infrastructure systems and new windows, and original architectural elements like marble walls, terrazzo tile floors, and molded ceilings were repaired. Crews restored The Paxton’s original two-story lobby and Grand Ballroom, and new retail and commercial space, including the award-winning Paxton Chop House, was built on the ground floor.

Thirty luxury condos were constructed on the upper floors with master suites, fireplaces, gourmet kitchens, and state-of-the-art security systems. Lund-Ross built two privately designed penthouse units with features like curved ceilings, glass counter tops, and private elevator access. Amenities including an exercise facility, 25-seat home theater, and rooftop deck were built in The Paxton.

Lund-Ross successfully completed the renovation of The Paxton on schedule in the summer of 2007. The historic renovation was honored with an Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors, and The Paxton was chosen as the region’s Project of the Year.
