Union for Contemporary Art Shirley Tyree Theater

CLIENT: Field Day Development
LOCATION: Omaha, NE
ARCHITECT: Alley Poyner Macchietto

Lund-Ross was selected to provide Construction Management at Risk services for the renovation of the historical F.J. Carey Block building built in 1914 to provide expanded opportunities for The Union Performing Arts program. The theater is named in honor of Shirley Tyree, a supporter of the performing arts and inspiration to the Omaha community.

An intensive pre-construction process with Field Day Development and Alley Poyner Macchietto architects required input from Lund-Ross on the many structural, electrical and mechanical issues that would drive the budget and function of the space.

Approximately half of the 8500 square feet consists of the historic building and the other half an addition that includes the 90-seat black box theater, lobby and ticketing area, set design workshop, rehearsal space and green room/dressing area.
