Lund-Ross Wins Excellence in Construction Awards
The Omaha Building, Saddle Creek Records Honored

Omaha, Neb., February 19, 2008 – Lund-Ross Constructors took home multiple awards and the 2008 Project of the Year award at the 13th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards on Feb. 10 in Lincoln, Neb.
Lund-Ross won its fifth Project of the Year award in a row as the general contractor for the historic renovation of the Omaha Building. The H-shaped neoclassical structure was the Omaha’s first skyscraper and is considered the architectural centerpiece of downtown. Lund-Ross completed a $19-million renovation for the building’s owner, Kutak Rock, in summer 2007.
The Omaha Building and the new Saddle Creek Records development were also honored in their respective categories, historical restoration and commercial construction. The Saddle Creek Records development houses an innovative mix of retail and residential, including the music venue Slowdown, custom-built condos, nonprofit cinema theater Film Streams and downtown Omaha’s first national retailers in over 20 years.
Hosted by the Cornhusker Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), the Excellence in Construction Awards honor the region’s best construction projects. Representatives from Lund-Ross and Alley Poyner Macchietto, the architect of both the Omaha Building and the Saddle Creek Records development, accepted the awards at the banquet.
The ABC Cornhusker Chapter represents over 260 merit shop contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and manufacturers throughout Nebraska. There are 79 regional chapters of ABC and over 25,000 member companies advocating the merit shop philosophy of high-quality construction at competitive rates.
