Lund-Ross Constructors Awarded Artspace Project
International Harvester Building to be Renovated into Artist Lofts

Council Bluffs, Iowa, September, 2007 – Lund-Ross Constructors was chosen by Artspace Projects to oversee the renovation of the historic International Harvester building in Council Bluffs into residential live/work and commercial space.

As general contractor of the Harvester Artists Lofts project, Lund-Ross will oversee the construction of 36 live/work artist lofts in the main structure. The lofts are oversized to include true working space for artists within each unit. The lofts vary in size and will include a number of efficiencies, one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

Underground parking, a community room, gallery space and a playground/community garden area are included the Harvester Artists Lofts project. In addition to the lofts, the construction of a south addition is planned. The new addition will house nine working studios, gallery space, five three-bedroom walk-out units and enclosed parking.

The renovation of the International Harvester building is scheduled to begin in Fall 2008. Lund-Ross will serve as a consultant for Artspace and project architect Alley Poyner Macchietto prior to construction to offer cost estimating and value engineering services. Occupancy is schedule for January 2009.

Minneapolis-based Artspace is a leading non-profit real estate developer, creating affordable live/work space for artists across America. The developer has completed 18 projects in cities like Chicago, Seattle and Minneapolis since the 1980s. The Harvester Artists Lofts is one of 11 new projects in development in cities chosen by Artspace that include Buffalo, New York, Monterey, Calif., and Council Bluffs, Iowa.
