This 24,600 square foot masonry and steel-constructed facility houses a juvenile detention center,
an alternative education facility and administrative offices for the sheriff and detention center staff.
Two holding cells, storage areas, judges offices, classrooms, hearing rooms, a visitation area and
a control room with a state of the art security system are all built into the structure. The juvenile
detention area includes 36 staff-secure beds, a warming kitchen and a large open eating area. The
detention center housing area is divided into three ‘pods,’ each pod including a day room,
bedrooms and bathrooms. The alternative school has two classrooms, a computer room, offices
and restroom facilities.
